Composer Theo Loevendie, pioneer of jazz and new music in The Netherlands, performs with renowned jazz musicians in the Wellingtonians, with special guest trumpeter Angelo Verploegen.

Reedist and composer Theo Loevendie, one of the founders of jazz in The Netherlands, made name with his orchestra music, operas and ensemble pieces. Since a couple of years he performs with a jazz band at Café Welling in Amsterdam-Zuid, a hangout for many prominent figures from the 1970s Amsterdam art scene. At the Bimhuis everyone can witness the unique ‘Wellingsound’.

Especially for the Wellingtonians, Theo Loevendie composed new works in the past couple of years. As part of the group he will play piano, accompanying illustrious names from Dutch improvised music. The Wellingtonians regularly invite special guests from jazz as well as classical music. This concert features guest trumpeter Angelo Verploegen....
